Can't remember anything, uncover what's going on and reveal the sinister plot deriving from your own past!

Towards the end of high school I had been upset that my attempts to find any game development programs were failures, so I took things into my own hands. I found a program that didn't require hard programming, GB Studio, and began messing with the programs capabilities. Eventually, I created enough assets that I put together a fake game that I never would've thought I'd publish.

This sprite sheet was made very early on, after the idea for making a test game was already in mind. Some things here are never seen in game and the town name Loat was changed to Cado later on to retain more of a meaning than a made up word.

I have never been one for writing stories, but this project pushed me to learn. Outside of story telling, the program was very limited in having environmental elements, so all of the animated aspects or interactable elements of the game that are not characters are rather sprites made within the confines of the character sprite measurements or an invisible character. In the end, I think one of the more difficult elements of making this game was having multiple endings, as the building blocks of code were limited, so making them talk based on the player's actions was difficult.

This video comes from before I even began anything. I created Cassidy's sprite (later given a name for the game, originally intended to be Marilyn Monroe) just to have a character be 4 directional.

After the game was finished I immediately felt that I wanted more and began working on my skills to make better projects. No matter my career path, no matter where I end up, this game will always be cherished by me for being something I worked on alone, kept track of in a digital journal, and most importantly for being where I began this amazing journey.

This is the final cover image of my game. Originally it was just the brain, but in the end, a good friend of mine suggested the broken glass effect and I ended up loving it so much it stuck.
